be the sole
organization in overall charge of sports in Asia;

be the
representative authority with all other bodies or
authorities responsible for Olympic, Asian, Continental,
International and World Games;
-
co-ordinate the
activities of Asian countries in the field of sports at
the regional and international levels;
-
promote the
practice of sport, encourage the construction of
physical facilities and improve the standard of
performance in the spirit of fair play within their
respective jurisdiction;
-
encourage the
holding of Asian Championships and competitions in
all approved sports under their respective
jurisdictions;
-
stimulate the
interest of the people of Asia in sport and physical
recreation;
-
co-operate with
public authorities and private enterprise in the
promotion of sport without prejudice to the principles
of the Olympic Movement;
-
ensure that its
membership is fully representative of the duly
recognized National Committees of Asia;
-
guide, influence
and lead all sports on the right lines in Asian
countries;
-
take disciplinary
action against any member or its representatives,
officials and competitors for misbehavior or any other
undesirable activity which brings discredit to the
Council;
-
ensure regular
celebration of the Asian Games every four years in
accordance with the fundamental principles, objectives,
Rules, Regulations and By-laws of the Council;
-
allot to a host
country the holding of the Asian Games every four years
and provide fair and equal competition to all eligible
competitors of Asian countries;

be responsible for
promotion and development of the Olympic Movement and
its noble ideals among Asian people;

be responsible to
solve, as the supreme Asian Sports Organization, sports
problems that may arise among Asian countries or
between them and others;

do all such other
things as may be necessary to fulfill the principles and
objectives of the Council.
