OCA Award of Merit to Turkmenistan President 15-12-2005

ASHKHABAD, December 16 (Itar-Tass) - Turkmen President Saparmurat Niyazov was awarded the Order of Honor of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) on Thursday. Award of Merit on 15th December 2005, the order was presented to Niyazov by OCA President and Kuwaiti Energy Minister Sheikh Akhmad Al Fahad Al-Sabah and OCA Director General Husain Al-Musallam.

Mr. Niyazov received the order for “invaluable contribution for the sake of sport and Olympic movement in Turkmenistan.

In Turkmenistan Mr. Niyazov was elected to head the national Olympic movement in 1995. In ten years two biggest Asian stadiums were built in the republic. At present an Olympic complex of water sports, as well as an ice sport palace are under construction in Ashkhabad.

During his visit to Ashgabat, Shiekh Ahmad visited the NOC H.Q. which is under construction, the Olympic Stadium and the Equestrian Club and stable which is one of the largest in the world.
