23rd SEA Games 27–11-2005

The 23rd SEA Games were inaugurate with great fan fare on 27th of November by the President of Philippines Mrs. Gloria Arroyo.  The tow and half hour Opening Ceremony festivities were held at the Rizal Park in Manila.

The Opening Ceremony programme centered around the theme “One Heritage – One South East Asia”.

More than 6,000 athletes from 11 South East Asian countries, of Brunei, Cambodai, Myanmar, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste and Vietnam and taking part in the 9 day extravaganza. Competitions in 43 sports will be held during the period of the Games.  The games will officially close on 5th of December 2005.
