PRESS RELEASE 2010Asian Games  31-03-2004

The National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of Malaysia and China submitted the bids to host the 16th Asian Games in the year 2010.  The deadline for the submission of the bids expired on 31st of March 2004.

The NOC of Malaysia represented by Mr. P. Haridas submitted the bid of Kuala Lumpur to host the Games.  

A 10 member delegation from the City of Guangzhou headed by Mr. Xu Deli, the Vice Mayor of Guangzhou City presented the bid of Guangzhou.  

A 10 member Evaluation Committee from the OCA will be visiting the two bidding cities from the 11th to 16th of April 2004 to inspect the venues and assess the readiness of the two cities to host the games.   The Evaluation Committee will submit its report to the OCA Executive Board in its meeting on 30th of June 2004.  The Executive Board will study the report and forward its recommendation to the OCA General Assembly.

The election of the City to host the Games will be taken during the 23rd OCA General Assembly scheduled to be held in Doha on 1st of July 2004.
