General Assembly

The 24th OCA
General Assembly successfully concluded in Guangzhou (China)
on 9th of September 2005. The Assembly was presided over
by HRH Sheikh Ahmad Al-Sabah, President of OCA. Mr. Huang
Huang, Governor of Guangdong Province and Mr. Liu Peng,
Minister of Sports and President of Chinese Olympic
Committee also attended the opening ceremony and welcomed
the Members to Guangzhou.
The highlights
of the General Assembly were
1. Secretary
General OCA & IOA and IOC Member and Mr. Hemasiri Fernando,
President of NOC of Sri Lanka.
2. Signing of
the MOU between the Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (APBU)
and Dentsu, the OCA Marketing Agents with regard to the
television rights for the 2006 Doha Asian Games.
3. Signing of
MOU between, OCA/OS and the NOCs of China, Korea, and I.R.
of Iran with regard to the establishment of high level
training centers in these respective countries.
4. Allotment
of the 3rd Asian Indoor Games to Vietnam to be held in 2009
5. Establishment of Beach Games and the first Beach Games to
be held in Bali, Indonesia in 2008.
6. Recognition
of Asian Federations of Dragon Boat and Kickboxing
7. Redesigning
of the OCA Brand Logo
8. Reduction
in the size of the OCA Committee from 11 to 5 with one
Chairman and 4 members. The Chairman to be elected by
the General Assembly and the Members to be selected by the
Executive Board from the nominations made by the NOCs.
