OCA Coordination Committee Meeting 29-04-2008

The 4th OCA Coordination Committee Meeting under the Chairmanship of Mr. Tsunekazu Takeda was held in Guangzhou on 29th and 30th of April 2008 at the Garden Hotel.

GAGOC made a detailed presentation on aspects of its preparations with regard to the 16th Asian Games and the committee was generally satisfied with the overall progress of the Games. The Committee however expressed its apprehension in certain areas specifically the organization of certain sports outside Guangzhou, and also the selection process of the it solutions provider and the host broadcasters for the games. The committee was also of the unanimous view that that the number of venues of the games should be reduced in order for GAGOC to reduce its broadcast cost and overall budget of the Games.

The Committee also visited the newly identified venue for the equestrian Sport and was highly impressed with the facilities being provided for holding equestrian events for the first time in china. The committee also inspected the hotel for the Athletes and Officials of the Equestrian Sports and conveyed its total approval to the Organizing Committee.   

The next Coordination Committee Meeting will be held in September / October 2008
