General OCA visit Japan

Mr. Husain Al-Musallam, Director General OCA
visited Japan, upon the invitation of
Minister of Information, Education and
Culture, Mr. Matsunami. And other leaders in
charge of sports movement in Japan. He
discussed with them the progress of sports
movement in Asia and thanked the role of
Japan in spreading the Olympic Movement in
Asia.
He also met the previous Prime Minister of
Japan and the Chairman of the Youth and
Sports Council and thanked them for the
support provided by Japanese Government to
the spread of sports in Asia. He also met
the Mayor of Tokyo City.
Mr. Musallam explained the role of OCA as
the biggest sports organization in Asia and
the 3rd biggest all over the world. Mr.
Musallam stated that OCA has a long and
outstanding sporting experience and has
conducted various programme to improve the
management of the sports movement in the
Asian Continent. One of such programmes is
the the OCA Anti-Doping Programme.
Mr. Musallam thanked the Japanese Government
and the Prime Minster of Japan for their
support to the OCA and the Asian Sports in
general.
Mr. Musallam thanked the Japanese Government
for their support to World Anti-Doping
Agency (WADA) by contributing US $ 1.5
million dollars yearly for its various
activities. This money will be invested to
improve the WADA activity by developing
educational programmes for the youth and
also the fight against doping.
Regional Office of WADA based in Tokyo
agreed to open a sub-regional office in
Kuwait inside the premises of OCA to
coordinate the anti-doping activities.
