President OCA inaugurates the Macau Headquarters 31-01-2008

H.E. Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah visited Macau on 30th of January 2008 and in a grand ceremony unveiled the new headquarters of the Macau Olympic Committee. The new headquarters of the Macau Olympic Committee is located in Rua do Desporto in Taipa.  The ceremony was presided by Dr. Fernando Chui Sai On, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, who was accompanied by Liu Xiaohang, Director of Culture and Education of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, Ye Xuenong, Deputy Director-General of International Organizations & Legal Affairs Department of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Macao SAR, as well as Eddie Laam, President of MOC. 

The new headquarters was inaugurated by a ribbon-cutting and plaque-unveiling by President OCA and Secretary Chui. The highlight of the ceremony was a lion dance performance, which was followed by a welcome reception for all of the invited guests.

President OCA addressing the guests stated that the large new headquarters would meet the needs for further development of the Macau Olympic Committee.   He thanked the Macau SAR government for their support to the Olympic Movement.  Macau Olympic Committee has played a great part in the development of sports in Asia and has recently successfully held the 2nd Asian Indoor Games from 26th October to 3rd November 2007 wherein all the 45 countries from Asia Participated. It has also held the East Asian Games in 2005 and the 2nd Lusofonia Games in 2006.

Mr. Eddie Laam, President NOC of Macau said cooperation between MOC and OCA has been growing since MOC’s membership was confirmed in 1989, which has enriched the dimension of local sport industry. He gave his heartfelt appreciation to HE Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah for his support to Macao, and particularly for his coming to join the celebration from afar. 

The ceremony was concluded by a toast for the success of MOC, followed by a visit in the new office.  

Also present at the ceremony were 1st Vice-President of MOC Manuel Silvério and 2nd Vice-President Ma Iao Hang, Alex Vong, Acting Director of Macao Sports Development Board, Secretary General of MOC Charles Lo, Treasurer Frederico Nolasco da Silva, Members of Executive Board Pau Ma Chong, Lao Hin Chun and António Fernandes, President of Accounting Review Board Van Kuan Lok, Secretary Mário Évora, and Relator Pedro Chau.
