Coordination Committee Meeting

The 3rd meeting of the Coordination
Committee was held in Guangzhou on
24th and 25th of October 2007. The
meeting under the chairmanship of
Mr. Tsunekazu Takeda ended
successfully. Guangzhou Asian Games
Organizing Committee (GAGOC) under
the chairmanship of Mr. Xu Reishang,
Vice Mayor Guangzhou presented a
detailed progress report to the CC
members on various issues including
the construction of the Asian Games
Village, Technical Village, Media
Village, the transportation, airport
and customs IT and TV etc.
The CC strongly recommended that the
number of venues of the 16th Asian
Games should be reduced from 62 to a
managable level which will reduce
the overall costs of the games. It
also suggested that an expert
committee consisting of the IF and
AF representatives from Equestrian
Federation should be established to
ensure that the Equestrian events
are held in Guangzhou. The
Committee also requested GAGOC to
finalize the mascot and the look of
the games as soon as possible.
