Main Press Center of 2nd Asian Indoor Games
23-10-2007
Situated at the Headquarters Hotel of the
2nd Asian Indoor Games, the Main Press
Center (MPC) of the Games officially opened
on 23rd October at Sicily Room, Venetian
Macao Resort Hotel. Chairman of Macao 2nd
Asian Indoor Games Organising Committee (MAIGOC)
Manuel Silvério hoped that MAIGOC could work
closely with the media and deliver the
latest news from the Games and Macau to
every part of the world.
Yesterday MAIGOC invited the media to the
MPC and introduced to them the facilities,
including the Games Information System (GIS)
which will deliver the latest results and
statistics from competition venues to the
Main Press Centre and website of 2nd Asian
Indoor Games.
Manuel Silvério remarked in the press
conference that the media play an important
role in any scale of sports meeting. MAIGOC
would meet their requirements as much as
possible, offering relevant information,
technical facilities, back-up support and
reception services, in order to provide an
ideal working environment to report the
activities of the Games. The representative
from the Press Centre also introduced
information access, catering and
transportation services to the media. In
addition, Manuel Silvério showed his
gratitude to the sponsors for their support.
He also highlighted the crucial role played
by the local and international media in
helping to get attention and encouragement
for the young athletes in Asia.
Representing the official partner of the
Games, Mark Brown, the President of Sands
Macao and the Venetian Macao Resort Hotel,
also attended the press conference. Being
the sponsor of the Main Press Centre,
Venetian was delighted to be part of the
Asian Indoor Games, it saw the sponsorship
an effectively promotion as well as an
opportunity to contribute to the sports
development of Asia.
The Main Press Centre of 2nd Asian Indoor
Games is located in Sicily Room, with an
area of 1,303 square meters, in the Venetian
Macao Resort Hotel. It aims at providing a
wide range of services to nearly 1000 media
representatives. Ideally located in the
Headquarters Hotel, MPC enables the media
representatives to conveniently cover the
conferences and promotion activities around
the Games. MAIGOC noted that the MPC was a
new experience, and it was set up in
reference to the experiences garnered in the
4th East Asian Games in 2005 and 1st
Lusofonia Games.
