25th OCA General Assembly 02-12-2006

The 25th OCA General Assembly was held successfully in Doha on 2nd of December 2006, under the President ship of H.E. Sheikh Ahmad al-Sabah, President OCA.  The meeting was also presided over by H.E. Dr. Jacques Rogge, President IOC, H.E. Mr. Mario Vazquez Rana, President ANOC and also H.H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Chairman of DAGOC.

 

The OCA signed an agreement with Hilton Hotel & Resorts for the management of the OCA Olympia Hotel in HQ Premises in Kuwait.

The president OCA presented the Hiroshima Sheikh Fahad Asia Fund Sports science award to Dr. Nader Rahmana from Iran on his out standing contribution to sport medicine and Vietnam Olympic Committee for their research on the Olympic Athletes.

During the Assembly various important decisions were undertaken some of which are:-

  1. Allotment of the 2010 Asian Beach Games to Oman

  2. Allotment of the 2012 Asian Beach Games to Hayan, China

  3. Allotment of the 2014 Asian Beach Games to Boracay, Philippines

Mr. Patrick Hickey President of European Olympic Committee presented the plaque of honour to H.E. Sheikh Ahmad Al-Sabah, President OCA for his outstanding contribution to sports not only in Asia but globally.

The assembly unanimously decided to hold the next General Assembly meeting in Kuwait on 16th and 17th of April 2006.
