Fun Run Doha 2006

Over 400
children from various schools in Delhi along with the veteran
sports persons participated in the Asian Games Fun Run Doha
2006 at the
Dhyanchand National Stadium in Delhi on 15th of May 2004. The Dhyanchang National Stadium was the venue of the inaugural
Asian Games in 1951.
The Fun Run Doha
2006 was
organized to herald the 15th Asian Games to be held in Doha in
2006. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President Mr.
Suresh Kalmadi, Secretary General Raja Randhir Singh along
with Executive Board Members of the IOA and former Olympians
and present athletes witnessed and participated in the Fun
Run Doha 2006. Sheikh Ahmad Al-Sabah, President OCA in his message to
IOA for the Fun Run Doha 2006 stated that
"Sports empowers
us all to achieve and bring a sense of unity across a breadth
of race, ethnicity, religion and gender and the Asian Games
Fun Run Doha 2006 epitomizes this aim and will help strengthen the OCA
objective of developing and understanding and friendship
throughout the continent".
A group of
school boys on roller skates added colour to the fun Run Doha
2006.
Specially
prepared T Shirts, Caps and certificates were provided to the
participants by the OCA.
