Bangladesh
Bangladesh meaning Country of Bengal is bordered by India on all sides except for a small border with Burma and the Bay of Bengal.

Its capital is Dhaka and the country gained independence on the 16 December 1971 from West Pakistan; (26 March 1971 is the actual date of independence but 16 December 1971 is known as Victory Day and commemorates the official creation of the state of Bangladesh.

There are many tourist attractions in Bangladesh for example many museums, mosques, national parks, shrines and famous towns.

Among them are the National Monument at Savar, Mahasthangarh at Bogra, Moynamoti at Comilla, Lalbagh Fort at Dhaka, Cox's Bazar, Sundarbans and Saint Martins Island.

Its main exports are Garments, fish, jute goods and leather products.
Culture
Bangladesh has a culture that encompasses elements both old and new.

The culinary tradition of Bangladesh has close relations to Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine as well as having many unique traits. Rice and curry are traditional favourites.

Bangladeshis make distinctive sweetmeats from milk products; some common ones are Roshogolla, Chomchom and Kalojam.
Climate
Bangladeshi climate is tropical with a mild winter from October to March, a hot, humid summer from March to June.

A warm and humid monsoon season lasts from June to October and supplies most of the country's rainfall.

Natural calamities, such as floods, tropical cyclones, tornadoes, and tidal bores occur almost every year.

Sports
Cricket is one of the most popular sports in Bangladesh.

Other popular sports include Association football, field hockey, tennis, badminton, handball, volleyball, chess, and kabadi, known as Ha Du Du.

This is a seven-a-side team-sport played without a ball or any other equipment and is the national sport of Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh Sports Control Board regulates twenty-nine different sporting federations. Other than this, Daria Banda, Stick Fight, Bull Race, Horse Race, Cock Fight, Saat Chara, Carrom are the significant sports being vastly played in the rural Bangladesh.
