Hong Kong, China: Support in Hong Kong for the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, China, this November is on the move – thanks to patriotic taxi drivers! At a supporters’ rally in Hong Kong on Saturday, a parade of more than 100 taxis proudly displayed the flags, slogans and emblem of the Guangzhou Asian Games to heighten public awareness throughout the Special Administrative Region of China.

The sides of the taxis were adorned with “Thrilling Games Harmonious Asia” and decorated with the mascots of the five goats, collectively known as “Le Yangyang”, along with the official emblem of Guangzhou 2010.

In addition to this colourful motorcade, 1,000 schools in Hong Kong will be actively involved in promoting the 16th Asian Games, while some 70 shopping malls and coffee shops will also publicise the November 12-27 event.

The rally took place at the Hong Kong Jockey Club at Sha Tin, in the New Territories, and was organised by the Guangzhou committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) – a political advisory body for the People’s Republic of China – in conjunction with Asian Games organisers GAGOC.
