17 Mar 2015
Muscat, Oman: Bahrain's former Arab bowling champion Nadia Akeel won her third gold medal of the 4th GCC Women's Games in Muscat on Tuesday to guide the kingdom to the team title following her success in singles and doubles earlier in the week. The three-strong team of Nadia, doubles partner Majeda Taher and the promising Layla Janahi finished with 4,313 pins at an average of 179.7 to beat Kuwait (3,935 pins, 164 average) and UAE (3,845-160) into second and third places, respectively.

This latest gold medal took Bahrain's overall tally to 32 (19 gold, eight silver and five bronze) - nine gold medals ahead of host nation Oman. UAE are third overall in the five-nation multi-sports event, which concludes on Wednesday. Kuwait and Qatar are the other teams competing.
