03 Dec 2016
Damascus, Syria, December 2, 2016: Syrian international karate referee Amjad Obeid received the international referee badge in Kumite during his participation in the World Karate Championships in Austria. Obeid told the Syrian Arab News Agency that his participation as a referee in the championships highlighted the fact that Syria enjoys a good reputation in sports in general, and in karate in particular.

Obeid earlier gained an international referee badge following his participation in the Kata (forms) referee course at the World Karate Championships in Indonesia in 2015. He was also a referee in a number of international championships, most recently in the 2016 USA Open Karate championships in Las Vegas
