Malaysia NOC hosts 16th National Olympic Academy

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: The 16th National Olympic Academy Session for Young Participants was organised from Monday, February 25 to Friday, March 1 at Wisma OCM, Kuala Lumpur. A total of 18 foreign participants and 17 Malaysian participants attended the 16th NOC Session. The foreign participants were from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Vietnam and the University of Iowa, USA.

The 16th NOA Session was officially declared opened on February 26 by HRH Tunku Imran, President of OCM and IOC Member. The official closing ceremony and presentation of certificates was officiated by Datuk A. Sani Karim, Deputy President of OCM, on February 28.

The best Malaysian female and best Malaysian male participant from the representatives of the NSAs were Noraseela Mohd Khalid and Cheng Chu Sian respectively. They will represent OCM at the 53rd International Olympic Academy Session in Olympia from June 11-25, 2013.

Noraseela Mohd Khalid is from the Malaysian Athletic Federation and is the national and SEA Games 400m hurdles champion since 1999 and participated in the London 2012 Olympic Games. Cheng Chu Sian is from the National Archery Association of Malaysia and is a two-time Olympian (Beijing and London) and has just retired as a full-time national archer.
