OCA launches Asian Kids’ Art Competition for 17th Asian Games

03 Jun 2014
Kuwait City, Kuwait: The Olympic Council of Asia, in cooperation with the Incheon Asian Games Organising Committee, is pleased to announce the launch of the Asian Kids’ Art Competition – a project of the OCA Culture Committee for the 17th Asian Games.

The competition is open to children aged between 11 and 15 years old (born from 1999 to 2003) and will be coordinated through the OCA’s 45 member National Olympic Committees and Culture Committee Chairman Mohammad Al Kamali.

The three themes for the art work are: My Asian Games, my hopes; Sport as a way of life; Our tradition, our culture.

NOCs will first hold their own art competition, pick their best entry and send it to the organisers by August 1. A five-strong committee will meet in early August and select the top 10 pieces from the 45 NOCs. This shortlist will be sent to the NOCs, who will then decide the best five. The deadline for this stage is August 15.

The five young artists, each with one guest, will be invited to attend the Asian Games from September 19 to October 4, and during the Games the athletes will vote on the best three.

The winners will be announced at the closing ceremony on October 4, and the top three will receive gold, silver and bronze medals as well as certificates and cash prizes.
