Amman, Jordan: The Jordan Olympic Committee held its Board meeting for May under the Presidency of HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein. Board members agreed to dissolve the current Bodybuilding Federation and replace it with a temporary committee to manage the sport and administer a budget approved to step up drug tests. The committee will be called the Jordan Committee for Bodybuilding and Fitness.
It was also agreed to penalise all athletes who fail drugs tests. According to HRH Prince Feisal’s directives, awards for athletes winning medals will be increased, and the board decided that an athlete’s coach should accompany the athlete in all competitions.
The new structure of JOC was approved, with the JOC operating under three main departments: Finance and Human Resources, Sport Affairs for Teaching and Training, and Media and Communications.
A new executive office was formed under the Presidency of Dr. Sari Hamdan to include Secretary General Lana Al Jaghbeer, Jamal Al Faouri, Ameen Al Momani, Sameer Mansour, Ayed Al Da’aja and Rd. Mothfi Al Omyan. Prior to the meeting, HRH Prince Feisal honoured boxer Ihab Darweesh for qualifying for the London Olympics and runner Salameh Al Aqra’ for winning the Marathon d’sable in Morocco.
