Time To Say Good-Bye, Time For Tears

24 Aug 2013
Nanjing, China: I now understand what Albert Einstein had meant when he said, “Time is an illusion.” Time flies so fast like an arrow and we don’t seem to realize it. I feel that my weeklong stay here in Nanjing was almost as if a dream. In the midst of all the enjoyment and fun, with the best kinds of people in the world who made every moment of my stay here memorable, I had totally forgotten about having to go back- at least not so SOON.

Attending the 2nd AYG in Nanjing has been one of the most beautiful experiences in my life. I have been able to meet people from nooks and corner of Asia, and be in a United-Asian atmosphere. I could learn so much about the different cultures at the Cultural village. And writing articles for a week has improved my journalism skills and made me more passionate than ever in this profession.

I am so grateful to OCA for giving me this golden opportunity and the Bhutan Olympic Committee for their endless support. And, of course, Mr. Jeremy Walker from the OCA, who is the most interesting person I’ve ever met so far. Representing my country as a youth reporter at age 15, I cannot express this ‘great’ pride and patriotism I am feeling today.

And all the young athletes who, with their strong potential; determination, enthusiasm and dedication for sports have truly inspired me. I thank them for making me fall in love with sports, which I regarded as something out of my league and something which would never interest me. With such motivation, and a camera full of memories I shall return home and share about the best first-impression that China has given me in my very first visit.

The everyday friendly fights in the bus with my other five colleagues, whom I must admit, are so genius; the seven local youth reporters from Nanjing who are all my best friends now; and the delicious pancakes and pizzas which has been my fixed menu everyday out here- I just can’t believe it’s time to wave them good-bye. No, I’ve never found any good in the good-byes. But I believe that life is all about meeting and departing. Every beginning must have an end and every end promises a new beginning!
