IOC VP visits Bahrain

Manama, Bahrain: IOC Vice President Nawal El Moutawakel of Morocco is full of praise for the Bahrain Olympic Committee's new strategy and future plans, aimed at developing the sports movement in the kingdom. Her praise came after a meeting with the BOC Chief Executive, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, on the sidelines of the Third GCC Women’s Games in Bahrain.

Shaikh Khalid conveyed the greetings of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and BOC President, Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to El Moutawakel and offered his best wishes to her.

Accompanied by BOC General Secretary Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Shaikh Khalid gave a detailed presentation on the new strategy and plans of the BOC, which aims to improve the administrative work in the sports federations to the level of professionalism.

She affirmed that the BOC is one of the most active National Olympic Committees through its continued presence at international events and conferences, besides its keenness to participate in the Olympics since 1984.

El Moutawakel also praised the significant progress made by women’s sports in the GCC in general, and in Bahrain in particular, noting the positive presence of Bahraini women in the Olympic Committee Board of Directors.
