Lausanne, Switzerland: The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has reported on the organisation of a “Cool Volley” festival in the Hirat region of Afghanistan at the end of October. The festival was the largest sports event of its kind organised in the country, with the participation of over 7,000 students. The aim of the festival was to develop volleyball through schools by providing them with the tools required to introduce students to this sport.

Videos, training exercises, mini games and web casting help teachers in this respect. Also of note is that a delegation from the Iranian Volleyball Federation travelled to the Afghan province. More info at www.fivb.org.

The President of the FIVB is Wei Jizhong, former OCA Sports Committee Chairman and Honorary Life Vice President, OCA.
