Kazakhstan, Qatar, Chinese Taipei teams join Hong Kong ice hockey festival

Hong Kong, China: The 2014 Mega Ice Hockey Fives enters its seventh year with a record-breaking 100-plus teams and over 1,600 players from 14 countries and cities making this Asia’s largest ice hockey festival. 

The 12-day tournament, which will be held from April 28 to May 10, has once again attracted players from Hong Kong, Asia and around the globe to the city’s largest and only international-sized ice rink capable of hosting international ice hockey games – Mega Ice at MegaBox, Kowloon East.

A new milestone has been reached with over 100 teams, including new teams from Finland, Kazakhstan, Qatar and Chinese Taipei.

The competition will feature over 100 teams across two tournaments with the youth (5-16 years) and adult (17 and over) divisions. 

There will be 14 different countries and cities, including Abu Dhabi, Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Manila, Shanghai, Singapore, Tianjin, Tokyo and Toronto. The tournament also sees for the first time a number of teams which include the HC Sepeli.Fi from Finland (International B), Zholbarys from Kazakhstan (International B), Qatar Oryx from Qatar (Asian B), the Chinese Taipei U10 and Taipei All Stars in the Squirts A Division, the Chinese Taipei U12 (Pee Wee A) and Taipei Silver Monster (Bantams).
