IAGOC signs deal with Alibaba to sell Asian Games ticket

2014 Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee (IAGOC) signed a contract with Chinese e-commerce company Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. with regard to selling the Asian Games tickets in Beijing on July 16. The contract was signed between Kwon Kyungsang, Secretary General of IAGOC and Zhang Jianfeng, Vice President of Alibaba Group Holdings and President of Taobao, whose consumer-to-consumer portal Taobao, similar to eBay, claims a dominant market share in online marketplace in China and emerges as one of the biggest one in Asia.

"It is very meaningful and important to sign this contract with Taobao at a time when the Incheon Asian Games are nearing." Kwon told reporters at the signing ceremony. Kwon added that this contract will create a buzz in anticipation of the exciting Asian Games and pick up momentum in attracting a great number of Chinese tourists during the Asian Games.

Riding the wave of a growing popularity of K-pop and Korean entertainer in China, Kwon said that we hope more Chinese to visit the western port city of Incheon to enjoy the Asian Games and Korean culture.

Hyun Bin who became one of the goodwill ambassadors the 17th Asian Games also attended this singing ceremony and relayed smart torch to Mr. Zhang Jianfeng.

The upcoming 17th Asian Games will be held in Incheon from Sept. 19 through Oct. 4.
