Myanmar NOC greets forum delegates in Yangon

10 May 2014
Yangon, Myanmar: The Olympic Solidarity/Olympic Council of Asia Regional Forum for South East Asian and East Asian National Olympic Committees will involve over 70 participants in the country's new administrative capital, Nay Pyi Taw, on May 11-12.
Delegates from the NOCs, OCA, Olympic Solidarity and Games organising committees have started converging on the Sedona Hotel in Yangon, which enjoys magnificent views of Inya Lake.
On Sunday, the delegates will take an early morning flight from Yangon to Nay Pyi Taw for the two-day forum, which will focus on good governance and Pre-Delegation Registration Meetings for the NOCs ahead of the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, Korea, from September 19 to October 4 and the 4th Asian Beach Games in Phuket, Thailand, from November 14-23.
The visitors have been greeted at Yangon Airport by Mr Khin Maung Lwin, Joint Secretary General of Myanmar Olympic Committee and Advisor to the Ministry of Sport.
"We are expecting 73 delegates here for the regional forum," he said. "As well as the NOCs from the two zones we will also have five representatives of Olympic Solidarity from Switzerland, plus OCA and representatives of the Games organising committees."
Mr Khin said the regional forum gave the Myanmar Olympic Committee an opportunity to welcome the Olympic Movement following Nay Pyi Taw's successful hosting of the 27th South East Asian Games last December.
Representatives from the IOC's 2nd Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China, this August will also update delegates.
