Myanmar-China launch SEA Games cooperation project

Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar: Myanmar and China launched a sports cooperation project on Monday, September 2 regarding the 27th South East Asian Games to be staged by Myanmar this December, reports Xinhua.The project will help secure friendly ties between Myanmar and China, according to Myanmar's Minister of Culture, U Aye Myint Kyu.

He added that the authorities concerned were making all-out efforts for the successful delivery of the 27th SEA Games in line with international standards.Under the cooperation scheme, China will provide assistance to Myanmar in training athletes and also in producing the opening and closing ceremonies of the SEA Games.

According to the programme, Wuhan, Changsha and Kunming have been selected as training bases for Myanmar's athletes, and a group of 26 Chinese coaches visited Myanmar last December to help conduct intensive training in 13 sports.

The 27th SEA Games will be held in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay and Ngwesaung beach from December 11-22, with a total of 1,557 medals - 460 gold, 460 silver and 637 bronze - up for grabs.
