OCA President arrives in Korea

Incheon, Korea: The President of the Olympic Council of Asia, His Excellency Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah, arrived in Korea on Sunday afternoon for a series of meetings in connection with two major OCA events this year and next. From June 29 to July 6, 2013, Incheon will host the 4th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which combines the Indoor Games and Martial Arts Games for the first time.

It will serve as a high-profile test event for the 17th Asian Games, to be held at Incheon from September 19 to October 4, 2014. Sheikh Ahmad, who arrived at Gimpo Airport, will stay in the capital Seoul before making the short journey to Incheon on Monday afternoon to attend the official dinner celebrating the 6th OCA-IAGOC Coordination Committee meeting.

On Monday he will have meetings with the new Korean Olympic Committee President, Kim Jung Haeng, and later with the President of Korea, Park Geun Hye, at the Blue House in Seoul. The 6th OCA-IAGOC CC meeting will include site visits to the POSCO Research and Development Centre, which will be part of the AIMAG Athletes’ Village, and to the accommodation for athletes and officials at Yonsei International University Campus and Songdo Global Campus.

The proceedings will close with the AIMAG official uniform fashion show and welcome dinner hosted by the IAGOC President, Kim Young Soo. On Tuesday, the OCA delegates will move to Nanjing, China, for a Coordination Committee meeting on Wednesday with the organisers of the 2nd Asian Youth Games from August 16-24, 2013.
