Kuwait: The Olympic Council of Asia’s special edition of the quarterly newsletter Sporting Asia celebrating the success of the 3rd Asian Beach Games in China is ready for download. The printed version will be distributed to Asian NOCs, the IOC, continental associations, Asian Federations, International Federations, media and sponsors next week.
The 3rd Asian Beach Games took place in Haiyang, Shandong province, from June 16-22 and involved some 2,000 athletes and officials from the 45 NOCs, as well as hundreds of technical officials and media and over 7,000 volunteers.
The special edition of Sporting Asia, dated July 2012, looks back on the success of the Games, with a message from the OCA and ANOC President, His Excellency Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, plus a Sport by Sport rundown.
There is also a report on Sheikh Ahmad’s eventful visit to the Athletes’ Village, news of a special award for OCA Life Vice President Wei Jizhong and a detailed look at the destination of the 49 gold medals on offer in 13 sports.
Packed with photographs of the action and from the Opening Ceremony on June 16, this 24-page Sporting Asia provides a permanent record of Haiyang 2012 while also setting the scene for the OCA’s 4th Asian Beach Games, in Phuket, Thailand, in November 2014.
