OCA Advisory Committee encourages development of young leaders

23 Sep 2016
Danang, Vietnam, September 23, 2016: The Olympic Council of Asia’s Advisory Committee believes the Olympic movement is heading in the right direction with the rise of talented young sports leaders in Asia and around the world. The OCA Advisory Committee, which is comprised mostly of International Olympic Committee members from Asia, is led by IOC Executive Board member Ng Ser Miang of Singapore.

The committee met at the Grand Tourane Hotel in Danang, Vietnam, on Friday, September 23, and discussed several issues related to the Olympic movement, including the recently completed Rio Olympics, the PyeongChang Winter Olympics in 2018, Tokyo 2020 and the candidate cities for 2024.

“The committee is happy that there are now new members from Asia in the IOC, but we still feel Asia is under represented,” said Mr Ng. “We are also happy to note that we are seeing more young sports leaders coming up in National Olympic Committees, the OCA and International Federations. “We want to encourage this trend of developing young sports leaders.”
