Hong Kong NOC returns with 20 medals from AYG

Hong Kong, China: The main delegation to the 2nd Asian Youth Games in Nanjing, China, returned to Hong Kong on Sunday afternoon with outstanding results by attaining 20 medals, comprised of two gold, five silver and and 13 bronze in six sports - Aquatics (Swimming/Diving), Badminton, Fencing, Rugby Sevens, Squash and Table Tennis. This placed Hong Kong 11th in the medals tally.

Led by Timothy Fok, OCA Vice President and President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, Pang Chung, Hon Secretary General of the Federation, Ronnie Wong, Chef de Mission, and Prof Leung Mee-lee, Deputy Chef de Mission, the delegation with 102 athletes born between 1996 and 1999 participated in 12 sports: Aquatics (Swimming/Diving), Athletics, Badminton, Fencing, Football, Golf, Handball, Judo, Rugby, Squash, Table Tennis and Tennis in the AYG.

The Federation would like to congratulate all the athletes and wish them continued success in future competitions and the 2nd Youth Olympic Games which will also be held in Nanjing next year. Last but not least, the Federation would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to Home Affairs Bureau, Leisure and Cultural Services Department and FILA Marketing (Hong Kong) Limited, the sportswear uniform sponsor, for their staunch support to the Hong Kong Delegation.
