UAE triumphs in men’s ice hockey

Dehradun, India: The 2012 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Challenge Cup of Asia, the first IIHF event ever hosted by India, was held from March 17-25 and featured 149 players and officials from seven countries. United Arab Emirates were crowned as champions, defeating Thailand 3-0 in the final. Malaysia, under new coach Martin Page, beat Kuwait 5-3 for the bronze medal.

The other three teams were Chinese Taipei, Macau and host India. During the tournament India recorded its first victory in its 13th international game, beating Macau 5-1 on March 21.
