Macau government rewards athletes, trainers from 2013

Macau, China: The Macau government rewarded successful athletes and coaches from 2013 with prize money of over 9.5 million MOP (1.2 million USD) at a celebratory banquet at the Fisherman’s Wharf on Wednesday evening.Athletes and coaches from a variety of sports received prize money on a sliding scale for gold, silver and bronze medals in all official competitions, including World Championships and the OCA’s Asian Youth Games in Nanjing, China.

In total, 151 athletes and coaches received 9,627,500 MOP (USD 1.234 million). Among the prize winners was Macau’s only medallist at the 2nd Asian Youth Games in Nanjing, China, last August – Chao Man Hou, who won swimming bronze in the men’s 50m breaststroke. He collected 40,000 MOP (or USD 5,130), while his coach, Ying Jingli, received half that amount.

Among the VIP guests at the function was Macau NOC President Charles Lo, Chairman of the OCA Media Committee and a member of the OCA Executive Board.
