Jordan’s Asian Beach Games double champion becomes gym brand ambassador

10 Jan 2017
Amman, Jordan, January 10, 2017: Jordan’s ju jitsu world champion Lama Qubbaj has been recognised for her achievements at Asian and global levels by being named Brand Ambassador for the Secret Gym in her home country. Secret Gym, represented in the publicity photo by Khaled El Ahmad, made the announcement on social media.

“So proud to announce our new Brand Ambassador @LamaQubbaj the World No 1 in her sport of Ju Jitsu @SecretGYMJO,” said the post. Earlier this month, Lama, 28, was confirmed as World No 1 following a year that saw her defend her 2015 world title in the +70kg category at Wroclaw, Poland.

The rankings, released by the Ju Jitsu International Federation (JJIF), saw her jump from fourth place to first on 600 points thanks to her world title, which was followed by the Asian championship crown in December at Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

In a golden 2016, Lama also collected two gold medals at the Olympic Council of Asia’s 5th Asian Beach Games in Da Nang, Vietnam, where Jordan had a record haul of 13 medals. Second in the JJIF world standings is Eva Bisseni of France on 540 points, while Justyna Sitko of Poland is third on 480 points.
