Taipei: The Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee announces with deep grief the demise of the OCA Honorary Life Vice President, Dr. Feng-Shu CHANG. The former president of Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee. Dr. CHANG died on Sunday at the age of 87. Born in 1928, Dr. CHANG graduated from the Political Science Department of National Taiwan University, and received a Master of Political Science degree from the University of New Mexico.

Dr. CHANG demonstrated a distinguished career as a sports leader and a politician. Dr. CHANG started his career as a council member of the Taiwan Province in 1960 and was appointed Magistrate of Pingtung County from 1964 to 1972, Mayor of Taipei City from 1972 to 1976, and served as Minister of the Interior from 1976 to 1978. Dr. CHANG was the President of Chinese Taipei Sports Federation(1987-1989, President of Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee(1987-1998) and then Honorary President of Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee(1998-2014. During his tenure as President of the Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee, Dr. CHANG helped ink an agreement with the Chinese Olympic Committee to initiate sports exchange between the two NOCs, and established a common protocol module for Chinese Taipei sports delegations to perform in the international sports arena.

Dr. CHANG was elected as Chairman of the Finance Committee of OCA in 1989 till 2011. He was awarded the “Gold Merit Award” by OCA President, H.R.H. Sheikh Ahmad Fahad AL-SABAH, in 2011 for his outstanding service and immense contribution to the Olympic Movement.

The Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee grieves this grave loss and has conveyed its deep condolences to the family of Dr. Feng-Shu CHANG.
