29 Oct 2016
Lausanne, Switzerland, October 27, 2016: Three weightlifters from Kazakhstan who won gold medals at the 2012 London Olympic Games have been disqualified by the IOC after re-analysis of stored samples. They are Zulfiya Chinshanlo, 23, in the women’s 53kg category; Maiya Maneza, 30, women’s 63kg; and  Svetlana Podobedova, 30, women’s 75kg.

The three gold medallists from Kazakhstan were among eight athletes to be disqualified from London 2012 in the IOC announcement on Thursday. The NOC of the Republic of Kazakhstan shall ensure full implementation of this decision and shall notably secure the return to the IOC, as soon as possible, of the medal, the medallist pin and the diploma in each case.
