08 Feb 2018
PyeongChang, Korea, February 7, 2018: Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Brazilian Olympic Committee on February 7, 2018, on the sidelines of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics. CTOC President Mr Hong-Dow Lin and Brazil NOC President Mr Paulo Wanderley Teixeira signed the MOU to facilitate sports exchange between the two NOCs.

President Lin congratulated the city of Rio de Janeiro for the successful staging of the 2016 Olympic Games, which marked the first Olympics to take place in a South American country.  During his address to the distinguished guests, President Lin stated that the social change spurred by the Olympic Games would greatly benefit future generations and the legacy would stand as an invaluable lesson for future mega-event rights holders.

Since 1979, the CTOC has formalised sports exchange agreements with 12 NOCs in the Americas, 10 in Asia, six in Europe, one in Africa and three in Oceania. This MOU encourages cooperation in areas including sports exchange, staff exchange, medical science, anti-doping, National Olympic Academies and many more.

The signing of the MOU will ignite friendship, exchange of experience and in-depth cooperation between these two NOCs for the promotion of the Olympic Movement.
