Maldives NOC conducts elections

Male, Maldives, May 8, 2017: Maldives Olympic committee held its Extra-Ordinary General Assembly on May 5 at Hotel Jen Ball Room. The main purpose of this Assembly was to elect the new Executive Committee members. According to the Olympic Charter, the general elections are held the year after the Olympic Games and the Committee members hold office for a term of four years.

The positions that were elected are President, Vice President, Secretary General, Treasurer and the Executive Board.

The elections results are as follows:

President: Mohamed Shaweed

Vice President: Ahmed Latheef

Secretary General: Ahmed Marzooq

Treasurer: Hussain Rasheed

Executive Committee Member-Olympic Team Sports: Maldives Basketball Association and Handball Maldives.

Executive Committee Member-Olympic Individual Sports: Badminton Association of Maldives, Swimming Association of Maldives and Tennis Association of Maldives.

Executive Committee Member-Non-Olympic Sport: Body Building Federation of Maldives and Maldives Pool Billiard Association.

Executive Committee Member-Women: Yasmin Abdulla and Mona Ahmed Abbas.

At the conclusion of the assembly, the President, Mohamed Shaweed, on behalf of the new Executive Committee, thanked all members of National Sports Associations for their support.
