GCC & Yemen RADO board meeting kicks off in Kuwait

10 May 2011
Kuwait: The 9th GCC & Yemen Regional Anti-Doping Organisation board meeting kicks off  Tuesday in the State of Kuwait. The meeting will be conducted by Chairman Dr. Saleh Mohammed Al Konbaz from Saudi Arabia and Vice Chairman Dr. Sultan Al Busaidi from Oman.
Dr. Al Konbaz praised the recent achievements of the GCC & Yemen RADO and thanked WADA for their support in his opening speech.
“Most of the Gulf region countries are doing well in anti-doping,” Dr. Al Konbaz said.
“The GCC & Yemen RADO meets twice a year now instead of our annual meeting in the past. Thanks to WADA’s support and attendance at all of our RADO meetings in the past, I’m sure RADO will have more success in the following years under WADA’s guidance to fight against doping.

“Lastly, I would also like to thank the great support of the State of Kuwait and the Olympic Council of Asia.”

OCA Director General Husain Al-Musallam, Mr Rob Koehler, Director of WADA's Education and Programme Development, and Mr Kazuhiro Hayashi, Director of WADA Asia/Oceania Regional Office, also attended today’s meeting.

A total of six Gulf countries - Saudi Arabia, Oman, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait - plus Yemen are the members of the GCC & Yemen Regional Anti-Doping Organisation.
