New era for Kuwaiti sport, says minister

Kuwait: Kuwait's Minister of Communication and Acting Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, Salem Al-Uthaina, said on Wednesday the International Olympic Committeee (IOC) had lifted the moratorium on sports in Kuwait once and for all. "The decision came in response to the adoption by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of the Act No 26 for 2012 to amend the sports regulations," the minister told reporters here, reports the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

"Today's decision opens a new era for the advancement of the Kuwaiti sports on the local, regional and international arenas," Al-Utheina affirmed, voicing hope that the Kuwaiti sportspeople will notch up more achievements.

He thanked HH the Amir for his kind patronage of the Kuwaiti sports and keenness on meeting the aspirations of the sportspeople.
