Asian Games team leaders gather in Incheon

Incheon, Korea: The 17th Asian Games in Incheon, Korea, next September will come firmly into view for the OCA’s National Olympic Committees over the next two days when the Chef de Mission Seminar takes place at the Incheon Hyatt Regency on December 1-2.

This gathering of team leaders, organising committee IAGOC and OCA staff will set the ball rolling for a busy few months ahead as the NOCs prepare their delegations for the OCA’s showpiece event. The 17th Asiad will run from September 19 to October 4, 2014, and involve 13,000 athletes and officials from the 45 NOCs in 36 sports, as well as 7,000 media.

The CDM Seminar starts on Sunday morning with a trip to the Seo-gu Main Stadium, which will host the opening and closing ceremonies and the athletics competition. With a capacity of 61,074, construction is expected to be at 90 per cent by the end of the year and completed by the end of April.

The first day of the seminar also includes a visit to the 2013 Incheon Tour and Leisure Sports Fair at Songdo Convensia, the official welcome lunch hosted by IAGOC President Kim Young Soo and afternoon stops at Seonhak Stadium, the Athletes’ Village and the Park Tae-Hwan Munhak Aquatics Centre.

Monday will be taken up by presentations from the various departments of IAGOC and consultations with NOC representatives.
