20 Mar 2013
Yangon, Myanmar: Myanmar’s pencak silat athletes have stepped up their training for the 27th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Myanmar in December, reports China’s state news agency Xinhua. Around 40 athletes are being trained by seven coaches, including three foreign coaches, at “Gold Camp” in Nay Pyi Taw, host city for the SEA Games. Their build-up will also include a two-month joint training camp in Indonesia from April.

The 4th SEA Pencak Silat Championship will be hosted in June.

Meanwhile, the Nay Pyi Taw Pencak Silat Invitation Competition will be staged for the first time from March 22 to 26. A total of 27 athletes from each of the three visiting countries - Indonesia, Laos and Malaysia - will be allowed to participate in the competition.
