Doha hosts FIVB-UN youth leadership camp

14 Jan 2013
Doha, Qatar: The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has teamed up with the United Nations to stage a UN Youth Leadership Camp in Doha from January 14-24. The FIVB is a key partner in the camp, which is run by the UN Organisation on Sport for Development and Peace and hosted by Right to Play and the Aspire Dome.

The camp, which opened on Monday, brings together 35 young players aged 18-25 from Africa and the Middle East who are actively involved in sport. Over the opening three days of the UN Youth Leadership Camp, the FIVB will introduce the participants to volleyball through both theory and practice.

FIVB Instructor and Egyptian men’s national team coach Sherif El Shemerly and England women’s national team captain Lynne Beattie will explain how to organise and execute grass roots programmes to support development and peace and how to stay involved with volleyball.
