Press Release: Chinese Taipei NOC partners with Hungary NOC

The Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee signed a Partnership Agreement with the Hungarian Olympic Committee on 18th November, 2013, opening up a new chapter of sports exchange and cooperation between the two NOCs. Hungarian NOC President Zsolt Borkai and CTOC President Thomas Tsai inked the Agreement on behalf of the respective institutes.

The Ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Director-General Tai-Ling PENG of Sports Administration, Ministry of Education, Mr. Levente SZEKELY, representative of Hungarian Trade office in Taipei, Mr. Jian-song CHU, Director-General of home assignment, European Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and local dignitaries. President TSAI pointed out in his speech, that the sports exchange between Hungary and Chinese Taipei goes back a long time. In 1990, the former president of CTOC, Dr. Feng-Shu CHANG, paid an official visit to Budapest and signed a sport exchange and cooperation agreement with the Hungarian NOC. The amicable relationship has continued ever since.

To further entrench cooperation with Hungarian counterparts, Chinese Taipei NOC President Thomas W. Tsai invited Mr. Zsolt BORKAI, President of Hungarian Olympic Committee and Mr. Bence SZABO, Secretary General of Hungarian Olympic Committee to visit Taipei to sign a new Agreement, and to meet with representatives from national Canoe, Fencing, Gymnastic and Judo federations. President BORKAI and Secretary General SZABO were also invited to take part in Taiwan – Hungary Sport Forum.

President Borkai expressed his appreciation for the warm hospitality offered by the CTOC and he sincerely invited CTOC to visit Hungary next year. Deputy Director General Peng stated in his speech that he expects the Chinese Taipei NOC not only strengthen its ties with fellow NOCs through substantial sports exchange mechanism, but also expands bilateral relationships to new horizons.
