Bahrain NOC honours disabled athletics team

Manama, Bahrain: The Bahrain Olympic Committee held a special reception and awarding ceremony for the Kingdom’s disabled athletics team at the Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation premises in Riffa. The team achieved great results at the 48th GCC Championships in Doha, Qatar, last month, including three gold medals for Ahmed Meshaima in the shot put, javelin and discus.

Other athletes with podium finishes were Ali Fardan, Sayed Ali Hussain, Yousif Ahmed, Mahmood Al Aradi, Mohammed Al Hammadi, Majeed Makki, Ayman Al Hiddi, Zahra Abdulla and Maryam Hassan.
 
Team officials Ali Janahi, Ali Al Qaisi, Sara Al Shawi, Mousa Hassan, Adel Al Asfoor, Adulla Hassan, Hussain Mirza and Rola Al Omari were also honoured.
 
They collected their awards from BOC General Secretary Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa in the presence of BDSF President Shaikh Ahmed bin Salman Al Khalifa and BOC sports affairs executive manager Noaman Al Hassan.
 
Shaikh Ahmed said the BOC would spare no effort in supporting disabled athletes, and announced a salary increment for all coaches affiliated to the BDSF.
