Sheikh Ahmad mourns loss of Kuwaiti goalkeeper Samir Said

Moscow, Russia: ANOC and OCA President Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah has offered his sincere condolences to the family and friends of legendary Kuwait goalkeeper Samir Said, who passed away on Sunday. “I am extremely sad to hear that my friend Samir Said passed away from the injuries he sustained after being hit by a car while jogging,” Sheikh Ahmad said in his personal statement of condolence.

“For me personally, Samir Said isn’t just a friend of mine; he has been a great friend of my family’s for many years.

“I really don’t know what to say. I pray to God for the peace of his soul. May God give his family the strength to bear the loss. May God be with him and his family.”

Samir Said was goalkeeper for Al Arabi Sporting Club and the Kuwait national team, including the Asian Cup in 1984. He is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in Kuwaiti football history and was part of the Kuwait Dream Team for the last century.
