Kuwaiti student studies Sochi Olympic management

09 Feb 2014
Sochi, Russia: Among the visitors to PyeongChang House for PyeongChang Day on Sunday was a 27-strong group from the George Washington University in Washington DC, USA. Led by Associate Professor Lisa Delpy Neirotti, PhD, Sport Management Director in the School of Business, the students included Shireen Alhasawi from Kuwait.

Shireen, who turns 24 this week, played tennis for Kuwait at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar. She left Kuwait in 2009 to study in the States and is visiting the Sochi Winter Olympics as part of her MBA studies, which she will complete in May.

"I have loved it here," she says. "It is so interesting to see the management of such a big sports event like this. Everyone has been so welcoming and everything is very organised. The venues are beautiful, very clean and well organised."
