State honour for Mongolia’s Oto

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia: The Secretary-General of the Mongolian National Olympic Committee, Jugder Otgontsagaan, has been awarded the Order of Merit in the field of culture and sport by the Head of State, H.E. Ts. Elbegdorj, President of Mongolia, for his contribution to the Olympic Movement and to sports journalism.

“Oto”, 50, has covered 11 editions of the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, since Barcelona 1992, and has dedicated 22 years to Olympic activities and sports media. The Order of Merit is the highest distinction of Mongolia and was presented at a ceremony in the Presidential Palace.

The Order of Merit – Athlete was awarded to S. Nyam-Ochir, Olympic bronze medallist in judo. In addition, four coaches in boxing and judo and one sports doctor - central figures in the Mongolian delegation at the London 2012 Olympic Games – were distinguished by State Order, while other orders of a lower degree were awarded to eight people.
