Nepal NOC receives ski equipment from Japan’s Sport For Tomorrow programme

Kathmandu, Nepal, July 18, 2017: Under the Japanese government’s “Sport For Tomorrow” programme in support of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the Nepal Olympic Committee received some ski equipment to help them develop the sport. The handover ceremony took place at the Japanese Embassy in Panipokhari in the capital Kathmandu.

Japan’s Ambassador to Nepal, Masashi Ogawa, presented Jeevan Ram Shrestha, President of the Nepal Olympic Committee and Nepal Ski Association, with the ski equipment: 12 pairs of skis, six pairs of ski boots and six sets of ski wear.

The Nepal Ski Association has trained about 15 skiers in cross-country and alpine skiing. NOC President Shrestha expressed his gratitude and said:  "This equipment will help us to promote our athletes in alpine events."
