Asia celebrates two Olympic qualifiers in boxing

Guiyang, China: The inaugural season of the AIBA's World Series of Boxing came to a close at the University of Guizhou Stadium on Saturday night as Asia celebrated two qualifiers for the boxing competition of the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Kanat Abutalipov of Kazakhstan and Wang Zhimin of China both booked their tickets for London the previous evening by winning the bantamweight and lightweight titles, respectively.

The other three champions over the two-day meet were Sergiy Derevyanchenko (Ukraine, middleweight), Abdelhafid Benchabla (Algeria, light heavyweight) and Clemente Russo of (Italy, heavyweight).

The five WSB Individual Champions were each awarded a cheque for US$20,000, the WSB titleholder's belt and all receive a quota place for the London 2012 Olympic Games. (www.worldseriesboxing.com)
