Philippine Olympic Committee President Jose Cojuangco Jr.
POC chief praises track and field association

17 Jun 2010
Philippine Olympic Committee President Jose Cojuangco Jr. lauded the Philippine Amateur Track and Field Association (PATAFA) for securing the conduct of its 2010 National Open Championships despite financial challenges.

“It is indeed heart-warming that PATAFA is able to hurdle major challenges to ensure that this important tournament is held,” Cojuangco noted.

Cojuangco maintained that new talents are expected to rise from this type of sports meet which has also lured the participation of international guests from Malaysia, Korea and the United States.

During the three-day event in May, a new national norm for decathlon was written by a 19-year old student from Far Eastern University, and PATAFA president Go Teng Kok reported the emergence of promising young talents who can be developed in time for the next Southeast Asian Games in 2011.

“I thank the POC for its support to our campaign and we vow to continue the drive to discover new talents to secure the continuity of all our programs from the youth side to the elite,” Go said.
